BACKUP QUICKBOOKS PRO 2008 HOW TO
Hence, I'm not even really sure I would know exactly how to look at the backup sets to see if I can tell what is 'growing.' But, I will endeavor to figure that out, and see if I can tell. Most of my available time is not spent working on computers, but doing my primary responsibilities. I've set this up because we needed something, and we do not have a dedicated IT department. We are a very small company (six people), and computers are my hobby, not my avocation. However, in answer to your question, no, I've never looked at either one of the backup sets to determine where the increase in file size is coming from. The Retrospect directories for the 'server' are of an appropriate size, and do not increase in size in relationship to the two computers running QuickBooks. I neglected to mention that the data file is stored on the same computer that Retrospect resides on, under a different directory on a different hard drive, and is also backed up via Retrospect to the Raid Array.

One of the backup sets is password protected, and I don't have the password for it, so every time I need to do a Recycle Backup, I need to go hunt down the person with the password, and it makes it difficult.Īny help that anyone can give me would be useful. If anyone has any idea as to why or what or how to make it so I don't get huge backup sets, I'd appreciate it. I have no idea what Retrospect is doing, although since it doesn't act this way on computers that don't have Quickbooks, I'm sure it isn't Retrospect. My SQL and Exchange servers are set for Differential backups. I back up the System State, and have all four Security Options set, we back up open files, and protect the multi volume datasets, which I don't think I have anyway. I use the Save Source Snapshots for Restore, Match Source Volumes to Catalog Files, Don't add duplicates to backup Set. I have Retrospect set up for scheduled backups every day, 'Normal' mode. It ONLY occurs on the two computers running QuickBooks, no other computer acts the same way.

My problem is that on a computer that may have a hard disk with less than 15GB of data, I'm getting 5-10GB backups. On two of our computers, on for as long as we've been doing the backups, and one more recently, we have installed QuickBooks Premier Edition accounting software. Storage is to a RAID array in the Proliant, and is also saved to an external hard drive.
